Why should you travel to Iceland with us?

Everybody’s Iceland travel photos look the same. Except for the ones our clients take.

That’s because our trips to Iceland are made entirely bespoke and never alight on the exact same itinerary twice. We can do this because we’ve spent years – since the early days of 2005 – getting to know and befriending the locals. From Einar, your guide across mighty Langjökull glacier and the tunnels beneath it, to Rós, who’ll lead you into the maw of dormant Thrihnukagigur volcano. These people – friends of Black Tomato – offer the best possible vantage to immerse yourself in this magnetic, eye-opening country.

If the majestic humpback whales found in southern Faxaflói, best spotted from a private boat, don’t put the pressures of home into perspective, then the force of nature that is Gullfoss (Golden Falls) Waterfall should do the trick. On average, an astonishing 109 cubic meters a second tumble the 30-plus meters to the river below. Walk through Þingvellir (Thingvellir) National Parks ancient rocks where the world’s oldest surviving parliament was born or soak up the fascinating modern history (and beer) at Ölverk micro-brewery. Go off-piste via private helicopter and see this classic route from a more unfamiliar angle.

Top Locations in Iceland

If we were asked to choose our top three places in Iceland, we’d go for these.
Golden Circle, Iceland

The Golden Circle

Explore some of Iceland’s most dramatic scenery.

Encompassing the south and southwest of Iceland, the Golden Circle contains some of the country’s most dramatic and iconic geography; from Þingvellir National Park and the Gullfoss waterfall to the geothermal geysers of Haukadalur and the enormous spread of Langjokull Glacier.

Hverir near Krafla, Diamond Circle

The Diamond Circle

An expedition into Iceland’s unknown north.

Even more otherworldly than its southern neighbour, the Diamond Circle – in the less-visited North of Iceland – contains such spectacles as Goðafoss (the waterfall of the gods), sprawling Myvatn Lake, and the echoing, black-red rocks of Hljóðaklettar.

Westman Islands, Iceland

The Westman Islands

The last eruption on this moody archipelago happened in 1973.

The remote, volcanic archipelago of Vestmannaeyjar contains an evocative museum documenting the eruption which destroyed much of the original settlement. Explore red mountains and watch for whales. Or tread the black beaches of Isole Vetsman before enjoying some of the country’s most innovative cuisine.
